I’m Troy — a designer who cares more about how something works than how it looks first.

I’m a senior UX & product designer with two decades in digital product and web design. My focus is front-end design — usability, UI, and UX — and my favorite part of the job is working with clients and teams to establish a vision, then translating it into something real.

How I work

I design by working a problem until the interface feels obvious — sketching broadly, testing layouts against how people actually work, and refining across iterations until the right path is the easy one. I live in Figma (and Figma Make), Photoshop, and Illustrator, and I know my way around HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — so I design with an eye on how things actually get built.

Background

For the past eight years I’ve been Senior User Experience Designer at Cenergistic, designing their energy-management platform across web and mobile. Before that I spent nearly a decade at Forte Payment Systems designing web and product interfaces, and got my start at Aldor Solutions. My roots are in graphic and print design — which is why I sweat the visual details, not just the wireframes.

Beyond design

Outside of design I teach guitar, and I enjoy music theory, mentoring and coaching, studying the Bible, alternative medicine, and following baseball, football, and soccer.
